London's Victorian and Georgian basements were never designed as dry, habitable rooms. Below-ground walls sit against damp soil. Without a working waterproofing system, water finds its way through the masonry, floor joints and any weak point in the structure.

As a result, you get damp walls, musty smells and ruined finishes. Where owners have converted a basement, water can also damage floors, plaster and belongings. If left alone, persistent water ingress cuts both the usability and the value of the space.

We diagnose exactly where and why water enters, then design a system that controls it for good. For example, a damp cellar may need Type A tanking, while a habitable room often needs a Type C drained cavity. Because many projects need both, we also design combined systems to BS 8102.

Our work follows the BS 8102 types. Type A is a barrier on the wall, Type B is waterproof concrete, and Type C is a drained cavity. Each has a place. Since every basement is different, the survey decides the choice, not a sales target.
